2012 | A Great Year For Films

1 Flares 1 Flares ×

The first half of 2012 has been good to moves. Nothing really amazing has come out but it hasn’t been bad either. But, the 2nd half is going to make 2012 a year to be remembered! The following is a list of films that I can’t wait to see. Do you agree with my list? Did I miss a movie you are looking forward to seeing?

The Dark Knight Rises – Opens July 20th – PG-13 – 165min

I love Batman and more than that, I LOVE Christopher Nolan & Wally Pfister ! They are my favorite director/cinematographer duo. Nolan’s wrting and directing skills are superb and Pfister’s lighting is dramatic yet always natural looking. They have been making films together since 2000. The Dark Night Rises is going to be amazing!

Robot and Frank – Opens Aug. 24th – PG-13

I found this movie while writing this post. It looks like it is going to be REALY good. It is the story of an old lonely man who is given a robot to take caer of him. But, the story takes an unexpected turn when Frank trains the robot to be a jewel thief. Sounds good right? Oh, and it won the Alfred P. Sloan Prize at Sundance this year.

Taken 2  – Open Oct. 5th

I’m not expecting this movie to be a theatrical master piece. But who doesn’t like Liam Neeson?!?! This is a guilty pleasure film for sure but man am I going to enjoy watching it!

The Master – Opens October 2012

This film intrigues me. I hoping that it will be one of the best dramas of 2012. Tough, it is hard to have a movie fail with Philip Seymour Hoffman & Joaquin Phoenix  casted as the main characters.

Skyfall – Open Nov. 9th

I wasn’t a fan of the Bond films until they casted Daniel Craig as Bond and took out the majority of the cheesy dialog. Now, the new ones are probably tied with the Bourne series as my favorite spy films. I am really excited but Skyfall! It should be great!

The Hobbit - Opens Dec. 14th

I don’t think I need to say anything about this film. It is J.R.R. Tolkens prequel to the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. Peter Jackson has received a lot of criticism over his decision to film The Hobbit in 48 fames per second instead of the traditional 24 fames per second. Luckily both the 48fps and 24fps film will be in the teaters. This is going to be sssooo good! Plus,  Martin Freeman of Sherlock is playing the “young”  Bilbo! Could it get any beter?

Les Misérables – Opens Dec. 14th

I seriously had some tears in my eyes the first time I saw this trailer in the theatre! I have great expectation for this film. I am hoping that it will be the best film of 2012!! The story is so good and the music is just as amazing! The casting alone should make this movie a hit: Anne HathawayHugh JackmanRussell CroweEddie Redmayne (Check out Glorious 39). So stoked for this movie!

The Great Gatsby – Open Dec. 25th

I love the story of the Great Gatsby. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote an amazing story! I hope that Baz Luhrmann will be able to do the book justice with this film. He did a great job with Romeo + Juliet and Austrialia so I think he will do fine with the Gatsby. This is the first time since Romeo + Juliet that Baz has worked with DiCaprio. Hopes its a good reunion!

I agree with you on all counts, but I had some additions to recommend. I was intrigued by Gangster Squad when I saw Ruben Fleischer as director and Ryan Gosling as the lead, but the trailer solidified my excitement. Looper is another one I’m looking forward to. An action movie from the writer and director of The Brothers Bloom. I’m down for that. And I know people usually love or hate his films, but since I love them, Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. I can’t wait for that one.

Great additions! Gagster Squad and Looper look awesome. I really liked the Brother Bloom. Django just looks crazy. Tarantino is like a mad scientist. He’s crazy and over the top bust somehow his stuff works.
